Overview

Walid is a Partner at the firm and the head of the Finance and Real Estate department.

Walid’s areas of practice include Real Estate and Conveyancing; Banking, Finance and Securities, Capital Markets and General Corporate and Commercial law.

Walid is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a member of the Law Society of Kenya and has an LLB from Strathmore University. He attended an entry course in arbitration from The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in Kenya and has a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

Relevance Experience

  1. Real Estate – Walid has acted for and advised several real estate developers on the sale of commercial and residential units in Kenya. He has advised project structuring and transaction documentation for various developments. Walid has also advised domestic and international clients on joint venture transactions.
  2. Banking and Finance – advising and acting for leading financial institutions in the preparation, review, perfection and realisation of securities. Walid also has experience in structuring, negotiating and documenting finance transactions including syndicated lending, project finance, real estate finance and Islamic finance. He has also acted for corporate and individual borrowers seeking to raise finance.
  3. Conservation – advised various conservancies and ranches on structuring of wildlife conservancies with the aim of creating suitable models for sustainable conservation of wildlife and their natural habitat.
  4. Corporate and Commercial Law – Walid has advised on M&A deals, audits and due diligence investigations, capital markets (including securities and derivatives), finance, restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy procedures and corporate law.
