Experience

Benedict has been involved personal wealth management, estate planning and succession matters of High-Net-Worth Individuals and Families. He also advised on the development of one of the largest mixed-user developments in East & Central Africa. Under his competition practice, Benedict advised and undertook the merger notifications to the Competition Authority of Kenya, notifying them of the intended merger of two banks in Kenya, furthermore, he also advised on the regional notifications to the COMESA Competition Authority, notifying the body of mergers’ cross border implications.

Benedict also advised a multi-national beverage company on the acquisition of a local bottling company. Benedict has also advised a placement agent on the issuance of commercial paper to local and international companies totaling upto United States Dollars eleven million (USD 11,000,000) and upto Kenya Shillings one billion (KES 1,000,000,000), as well as advised on the structuring and securitization of these commercial papers.

He previously served in the Technical Committee of the Taskforce on the National Risk Assessment on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing commissioned by the Cabinet Secretary to the National Treasury. Benedict recently served as a Technical Resource Person in the Secretariat to the Presidential Taskforce on Review of Power Purchase Agreements and is currently serving in the same capacity to the Presidential Steering Committee on Implementation of the Taskforce’s Recommendations.
