Overview
George has a diverse portfolio of business and legal experience. He studied Business and Law at University College Dublin, during which time he spent a year at the world renowned Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto as part of a competitive exchange programme, where he specialised in international law. He graduated with honours in 2006, followed by professional training at PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services in Dublin and preparation for Bar exams in New York. He was called to the New York Bar in 2012 and has been licenced in good standing for almost a decade.
Experience
George has been a licensed property professional in Ireland for ten years with extensive experience in the property market, especially with sales by public auction and the niche market for fine & decorative arts and antiques, holding a certificate in fine art valuation from Solent University in Southampton.
George has served as director of business development on the board of a major international auction house for five years where he collaborated on various joint ventures with Christie’s, the global leader in fine art auctions, including the world-famous sale of the Mount Congreve Collection of art and antiques which realised over EUR10m across three sales in London and Ireland.
George currently sits on the board of trustees of the SCOOP Foundation, a registered Irish charity organization, which he co-founded in 2009 to support children’s education, with current projects in Cambodia, India, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Kenya and Ireland (scoopfoundation.org). He recently received his Master’s degree in International Relations from Dublin City University with a focus on international law.
He arrived in Kenya in 2016 and has since acted as international legal and executive consultant and in-house counsel for a variety of Kenyan and other African companies during which time he has acquired a variety of skills and expertise in the African legal space, with time spent and various projects completed in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique and Cameroon. He has worked with the leading law firms in each of the above jurisdictions and has extensive experience in the law and regulation of the telecommunications and gambling industries and the charity sector.
He is an expert in corporate law with an emphasis on M&A, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. He has also assisted with the preparation for litigation relating to various Kenyan court cases.
