Overview

Shane is a Partner and Head of the Corporate Law and Family Functions of Ivory Advocates. She is a qualified business consultant, Notary Public, accredited mediator, and registered Insolvency Practitioner.

Shane holds an LLB from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and an LLM in International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation from the University of Warwick. She previously served as Treasurer of the Uganda Law Society and currently sits on several Boards as Director and/or Company Secretary.

  1. Corporate law: Advises on company formation, shareholder agreements, corporate restructuring, and various corporate transactions like mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and joint ventures.

  2. Corporate Governance & Compliance: Provides counsel on governance frameworks, board structures, ESG compliance, and regulatory adherence.

  3. ICT & Technology:  Provides legal support to technology companies on a range of matters including contracts, data privacy, and intellectual property.

  4. Family Law & Estate Planning: Counsels on marriage, divorce, custody, succession, wills, and trusts to ensure proper asset protection and wealth transfer.

  5. Banking, Finance & Capital Markets:  Structures project finance, syndicated loans, equity deals, and capital market transactions, and manages licensing for financial institutions.

  6. Energy & Infrastructure: Provides legal support for power, water, and road projects, including equity and debt financing, public-private partnerships, permitting, and contract negotiations.

  7. Capacity Building & Social Impact Leads mentorship, CSR programs, and training to promote talent, diversity, and sustainable business growth.
